Yes, yes. I know very well that my posts here at T-L have been coming at a slow rate, lately. But truth be told, I've been looking into a couple of new hobbies lately. Yeah, that's right: there's more to life than just 1's and 0's!
Anyways, that's what brought me here today. I'm here to share my new addiction with everyone: biking!
I'll spare you the research, but it is one of the more fun ways to exercise and keep yourself active and healthy. Besides, it beats paying over 4$ a gallon (and increasing). I wonder if pumps are going to start carrying slots that read "Place Soul Here" anytime soon. Here's an interesting factoid: bikes are the most efficient form of transportation in the world.
So, here's the technology part: I've found this website that supplies plenty of DIY (do-it-yourself) and How-To information on a diverse number of projects, including bike-related ones! Instructables.com was created by Saul Griffith and others from MIT, along with Eric Willhelm, and founded in the spirit of collaboration and creation. Their project soon became a place for where both crafty DIY-ers and imaginative visionaries broadly distribute plans for all sorts of home-projects and community programs; and usually each one is fit into a format of steps (often shown by photographs or other visuals) to simplify the work so that anyone can do it.
They have all sorts of stuff in there, like cooking recipes (want to build a Pocky-shaped cake?), tech stuff (turn an old Dell laptop into a digital frame?), or anything random (learn how to tie a bow-tie). I'm serious, they have just about everything and then some.
Here's some bike projects that interested me this past week:
+ Have a Public "Bike to Work Day"
+ Fit your Saddle with Leather
And if I ever need anything done on my bike maintenance-wise, everything is up on the Bicycle Tutor's page. I'm serious: everything.
