Halloween Party Guide 2007

You’ve spent all week thinking of the perfect costume. Something sexy, original and slightly terrifying with some blood and guts gross out appeal. And then it hits you: a hit and run victim Playboy bunny! Perfect!

Now, the only thing left is showing off your costume all over town and doing some liquid trick or treating (a.k.a. bar hopping) to celebrate everyone’s favorite secular fiesta. So why not follow this party “to do” list and make Halloween last all week? Go ahead. If you dare…

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 25:

Laser Fright Light @ Calsua Nature Center and Planetarium

Duuude. Trippy. What goes together better than acid, creepy music and a laser light show? Nothing, except maybe acid, creepy music, a laser light show and Halloween. The Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium in Fort Myers hosts a Halloween-inspired Laser Light Fright Night, set to a variety of music from "Thriller" to "Enter Sandman." Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door, and free for Nature Center members. The lights get funky at 7 p.m. 3450 Ortiz Ave. Fort Myers.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 26:

Trick or Treat @ Envie Lounge

Business casual by day, blood soaked killer by night. No, it’s not America’s Most Wanted; it’s Trick or Treat, the Young Professional’s 2nd annual Halloween party at Envie Lounge. As you enjoy signature Halloween drinks, DJ Elmo will rock your costume off spinning the best house music, and you can hit Andrew Newton's Spooky photo booth for a devilish keep sake to remind you of what happened after that third Jager bomb. There will be prizes for the three best costumes and no cover from 9 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. 21+ 2213 Main Street, Fort Myers.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27:

Halloween at Sway

Something very strange is going on this Saturday at Sway Lounge. No, they’re not serving Bud Light cans or having Jell-O wrestling, but the swank nightclub will transform into a haunted party spot for a night of crazy costumed fun. The music will be hot, the costumes hotter (and very, very small) and the iPhone prize for the top costume ain’t too shabby either. Leave the witches hat at home and rock some serious creativity for this Halloween blow out. 8 p.m. 21+ $10 cover until 1 a.m. 2059 East Tamiami Trail, Naples.

Monster Bash @ Yabba Island Grill

At last year’s Yabba Island Grill Monster Bash, one inventive local literally lit up the party with a costume made from a net of shining Christmas lights powered by a backpack generator. Sure, it was unwieldy, not dance floor friendly and jarringly bright, but it also made a hell of an impression. This year’s bash promises to bring just as much alcohol induced mayhem to Fifth Avenue South. Cash in on the zombie drink specials and try to dress your way to the $350 wad o’ green award for best costume. 10:30 p.m. 21+ No cover. 711 5th Avenue South, Naples.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 28:

Halloween Monster Crazy 8K Race/Run

Mmmmm. Candy. Snickers bars, Milk Duds, teeth-rotting, belt-busting treats shoved at you a handful at a time. It sounds kind of like heaven, that is, until you step on the scale. If you’re looking to work off a little of the Halloween weight before the holiday even starts, lace up your sneakers and get ready to run for a good cause. Vineyards Park Community Center in Naples will be hosting the annual Halloween Monster Crazy 8K Race/Run to raise money needed to expedite research for the countless Americans affected by retinal degenerative diseases. And that’s not all, this is a costumed run with prizes for best costumes for both adults and children. The race to cure (and scare!) starts at 7 a.m. 6231 Arbor Blvd Naples.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 30:

Halloween Double Feature @ Local Theaters

Want to really scare yourself this Halloween? Do you enjoy nightmares that leave you in shivering in a cold sweat? Start to see your butcher knife in a whole new light at the Michael Myers double dose marathon of horror with "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers," and "Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers." If these two freaky flicks aren’t enough to have your fingers palm deep in your ears and your eyes glued shut, featurettes "Halloween: Faces of Fear" and "Meet the Michaels" will play as well. Now, just try not to throw all your popcorn on the guy in the row in front of you. Purchase tickets at the box offices or online at www.fathomevents.com 7:30 p.m. at Regal Bell Tower 20 in Fort Myers, Bonita Springs Stadium 12, Gulf Coast Town Center Stadium 16 in Fort Myers and Hollywood Stadium 20 in Naples.

HALLOWEEN, WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 31:

Halloween Party with the Peacock Boys @ The Office Pub

Everyone knows that boys love dressing in drag. Gay boys, straight boys and everyone in between, for some reason they all love zipping up a short shiny dress and slipping into a pair of pumps now and then. Every October 31st you’ll find plenty of guys strutting around dressed as Paris Hilton or Madonna, and if you’re in Southwest Florida, you’ll find most of them at The Office Pub. Fort Myers’ only real gay bar, The Office is hosting a Halloween shindig with a three-category costume contest (including best drag) and “the Peacock Boys.” Sounds frisky if you ask me. 10 p.m. 21+. 3704 Cleveland Ave Fort Myers.

Halloween Horror Night @ Stoney’s Sports Café

College co-eds love two things above all else: cheap booze and an excuse to dress like a thematic prostitute. On Halloween you can bet that Officer Sexy, Dr. Hotness and Private Bootyshaker will all be chugging cocktails in Estero at Stoney’s Halloween Horror Night costume party. The bar will be giving away $1000 in cash and prizes for the best get ups in the categories of best individual costume, sexiest costume and best group costume, and from the looks of last year’s pics this crowd isn’t afraid to get raunchy. $20 gets you all you can drink, and shot girls will be lubricating the crowd with $5 shooters all night. Strip down to your skivvies, grab a pair of cat ears and we’re off to Stoney’s! 9 p.m. 18+ No cover. 21253 Stoneybrook Golf Blvd., Estero.

Halloween Party @ Snappers

Want to hit up a Halloween party where the guests aren't afraid to break out their skankiest and scariest duds for a laugh or a chance to get some ass? Of course you do! Then skip the frat bashes and make a b-line for Snappers gay nightclub in Naples. More than $1,000 in cash and prizes will be doled out for the wildest outfits. My personal award goes to the person who has the best meerkat costume. And no, a brown bikini and a tail doesn’t count. 9 p.m. 21+ 2634 East Tamiami Trail, Naples.

Costume Party @ Jack’s Bait Shack

For rock stars every day is Halloween. From Madonna’s cone bra to Gene Simmons’ face paint, ridiculous hair and that terrifying/fascinating tongue, their “office” attire is our Halloween costume. It’s only natural then, that Jack’s Bait Shack’s Halloween costume party should include not just scantily clad women but also good old-fashioned rock and roll. Come jam to Naples’ own Rainmaker and compete for a cash prize for best costume. 10 p.m. 21+ No cover. 975 Imperial Golf Course Boulevard, Naples.

Halloween Bash @ The Buddha Bar

Lust. Gluttony. Greed. Sloth. Wrath. Envy. Pride. Halloween encompasses the values of the seven deadly sins almost as well as Brad Pitt in that little movie he did with Morgan Freeman. But The Buddha Bar in Fort Myers is taking this wicked holiday one step further: Not only can you lust after the hottie down the bar dressed like a slutty nurse, greedily collect a gluttonous amount of chocolate and take pride in, I don’t know, your ability to frighten small children, but you can also party like a rock star to the tunes of Fort Myers cover band Seven Sins. 10 p.m. 21+ 12701 McGregor Boulevard, Fort Myers.
