Lectures

Physicians Regional Healthcare System is offering the following free lectures at 6101 Pine Ridge Road, Naples:

* Dr. Jon S. Dounchis, an orthopedic surgeon, will talk about living with knee pain from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today in the hospital lobby.

* H. Kurtis Biggs, an osteopath-orthopedic spine surgeon, will discuss a new solution for hip pain from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the hospital lobby.

* Dr. Frederick F. Buechel Jr., an orthopedic surgeon, will talk about new pain and robotic-arm knee surgery from noon to 1 p.m. Friday on the clinic’s second floor.

H1N1

H1N1 vaccinations are available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to anyone on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at the Collier County Health Department, 3301 U.S. 41 E., Building H, Naples. Appointments aren’t required. Free. Information: 252-8200.

Winter academy

The University of Pittsburgh will hold its Winter Academy on biomedical research on Friday at the Ritz-Carlton, Naples, at 280 Vanderbilt Beach Road. The academy seeks to engage alumni by bringing the university to them.

Autism screening

The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida in partnership with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Florida will offer free monthly autism spectrum disorder screenings for toddlers 18 months to 5 years old. The next screening will be from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, Miromar Outlets, 10801 Corkscrew Road, Lakeside playground parking area, Estero. Hearing loss

The Naples Ears Chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America will meet from 10:30 a.m. to noon Friday at the North Collier Government Center, 2335 Orange Blossom Drive, Naples.

Workshop

The Center for Autism and Related Disabilities at the University of South Florida will present a workshop on toilet training for the young child with autism from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 16 at 1650 Medical Lane, Suite 1, Fort Myers. Registration is required. Information: (239) 590-7771.

Cancer prevention cooking courses

The Cancer Project is sponsoring a cancer prevention and survival cooking course from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesdays from Feb. 17 through March 10 at the Cancer Alliance of Naples and 21st Century Oncology, 733 Fourth Ave. S., second-floor conference room, Naples. $40. New addition

Dr. Claudio A. Ferreira has joined Eye Centers of Florida medical team of ophthalmologists and surgeons. Ferreira is a graduate of Medical University of Vassouras in Rio de Janerio and interned at Santa Casa Hospital, Brazil and Charles Drew University, UCLA Medical Center.
