Here is this week's list of upcoming benefits:

Balloon project

A balloon release for the Freedom Waters Foundation’s Balloon Project will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Naples Pier, 25 12th Ave. S., Naples. A video camera will be strapped to 40 red, helium-filled balloons to create a film that will be shown from 1 to 4 p.m. on Feb. 14 at the Philharmonic Center for the Arts. Freedom Waters Foundation provides opportunities for boating and marine education for children with disabilities and life-threatening illnesses.

Balloon brunches will be held at Third Street South restaurants through Sunday and special red balloons will be available for $1 to honor loved ones from Third Street South merchants. Information: 248-1120

Shop for a cause

Shop at Whole Foods Market all day Tuesday, and 5 percent of the day’s net sales will be donated to Barbara’s Friends, Southwest Florida’s only pediatric outpatient hematology/oncology clinic. Banana Peel the clown will make an appearance and concerts will be from 3 to 5 p.m. The store is at the Mercato, 9101 Strada Place, Naples. Information: 552-5100

Olympic team fundraiser

The Gulf Coast Sailing Club will host Trevor Moore and Erik Storck, Olympic contenders, at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club, 851 Gulf Shore Blvd. N., Naples. $10, non-members. Information: 263-8511

Yard sale

A yard sale to benefit Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Jan. 14 at Pelican Landing Community Center, 24501 Walden Center Drive, Parking area, Bonita Springs. In case of rain, the sale will be held Jan. 15. Information and directions: 495-9778

Volunteer information sessions

* The Make-a-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida is holding a volunteer information session at 6 p.m. Jan. 14 at Whole Foods Market, the Mercato, 9101 Strada Place, Naples. Information: 992-9474

* K is for Kids Foundation Inc. will host a meeting for its teen advisory team at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Club at Naples Bay Resort, 1800 U.S. 41 E., Naples. Registration is required at www.kisfordisfoundation.org.

* The von Liebig Art Center is sponsoring a volunteer orientation breakfast from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 25 at 585 Park St., Naples. Volunteers are welcome on an ongoing or one-time special event basis. Information: 262-6517, ext. 105

Coming up

* The von Liebig Art Center celebrates Clyde Butcher’s work with a screening of “Big Cypress Swamp: The Western Everglades,” at 6 p.m. Jan. 15 at 585 Park St., Naples. The event also includes a question and answer with Butcher and filmmaker Elam Stoltzfus, a cocktail reception and a free copy of the DVD. $50. A drawing of 60 works from Butcher’s “American the Beautiful” series will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $250. Information: 262-6517, ext. 115

* The Animal Refuge Center is sponsoring an antique appraisal day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 16 a the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 13051 Bell Tower Drive, Fort Myers. Peter Curraan of the Antiques Roadshow will be one of the appraisers. $20, two pieces appraised.

* Naples Ferrari and West Coast Muscle Car Clubs will have a display of cars with live entertainment, face painting and magic for the children from 3 to 8 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Mercato, Strada Place, Naples. Whole Foods Market will feature a cookout from 4 to 7 p.m. for $5.

* The David Lawrence Foundation is presenting the fundraiser “St. Petersburg: Land of the Tsars,” at 6 p.m. Jan. 15 at the Naples Yacht Club, 700 14th Ave. S., Naples. $500. Information: 354-1434

* The Able Academy will benefit from the West Coast Muscle Car Club of Naples’ fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Hibiscus Center, 2950 U.S. 41 N., Naples. The event features a car display, bounce house, craft tables, silent auction and a bake sale.

* Laces of Love will benefit from the concert at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 6976 Trail Blvd., Naples. A silent auction will be held at 6;30 p.m. $25. Information: 597-3464

* The Friends of the Salvation Army, Bonita and Estero, will sponsor a winter luncheon at 11 a.m. Jan. 18 at the Pelican’s Nest Club, 4450 Pelican’s Nest Drive, Bonita Springs. Margaret A. Roche will present a light-hearted talk titled “History of Ladies’ Undergarments.” $50. Information: 495-3159.
