A Naples mom has cooked up a food show for kids, and she’s hoping to get it on television.
Sarah Coble and her sons Bear Flock, 11, and Wolf Flock, 7, will star in the show, which is called “The Brothers Cook!” They’ve filmed a trailer in the kitchen of their Naples home, and hope to find a network home for the show.
In the meantime, they’re touring local farmer’s markets and filming.
“It’s a food show where kids learn about food from farm to fork, so we’ll learn about regional farming techniques, science and cooking,” Coble said. She’s producing the show with a Naples-based video production company, Blue Sky Media. The show’s appearance here is also in cooperation with C’MON, the Children’s Museum of Naples.
The idea came to Coble when she was homeschooling her sons. She used cooking to teach them history, math and science, and her husband, a restaurateur, helped cement their love of cooking.
“I didn’t mean for it to be my sons in particular, because they were a bit young when I started developing it,” Coble said. “I would listen to them talking, and I was hearing the interplay of a team of brothers in the kitchen.
“Although I didn’t intend it to be them specifically, they do have the creds. They do love to cook, they do go on adventures together, they were helping their father build their farm stand.”
Coble and her sons will be at the Third Street South Farmer’s Market showing kids how to make fresh and easy yogurt parfaits from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. this Saturday. Naples organic grocer Food & Thought is donating the ingredients for the parfait buffet, including yogurts, fresh fruit and crunchy toppings.
