It was all about love in Naples on Saturday afternoon as people found new loves and rediscovered old ones at the grand opening of Love Yoga Center.
“Yoga changes everything,” said owner Carla Olla.
The center first opened its doors earlier this summer. Saturday, however, was a celebration of the yoga center’s strides in adding more classes, hiring diverse teachers, attracting more students and erecting finished signage at the studio in Liberty Plaza.
Nearly 50 students, including mostly full-time Naples residents, but also some visitors from England and around the world, were treated to an afternoon of yoga, meditation, chanting, crystal bowl playing, healthy food and live music.
“This is my way of thanking everyone,” Olla said to her growing customer base, which she calls a community.
Love Yoga Center offers a variety of classes, including Jivamukti influenced Vinyasa, Ashtanga, power yoga and yoga basics. There are classes for students of all ages, including children, teens and seniors, as well as classes for all levels.
Olla is certified in Ayurveda yoga therapy and Thai yoga massage. Her teachers include Sharon Gannon and David Life, founders of Jivamukti.
Before becoming a yoga teacher in Woodstock, NY, Olla worked as a professional musician and played guitar on a world tour with Deborah Harry, earning her a gold record.
Perhaps her passion for music was what inspired two of her yoga students to independently play acoustic guitar and sing for the crowd after class Saturday despite each suffering approximately 20 years of stage freight.
