NAPLES — The second annual ‘Run for Music’ 10K run and 1-mile walk was held on Sunday morning at the Philharmonic Center.
Jumji Hijikata of Naples, one of the 800 runners registered, prepared for his first 10K race, attaching the timer tag to his running shoes. He had just recently started running.
Over 900 people participated, with all proceeds benefiting the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra and its youth music education programs. Members of the Orchestra, stationed along the route played music for the runners, and spectators lined the streets.
Dan Miller and other members of the Naples Philharmonic Jazz Orchestra played “When the Saints Go Marching In” as they walked up Pelican Bay Boulevard toward the finish line, following the mile long route.
The post race celebration featured food, fun and music.
