BONITA SPRINGS — Residents greeted the new year with a celebration with Wendy Renee and company at a sparkling dinner dance at the clubhouse. We dined and danced all night.
Now we are ready to celebrate life with other snowbirds in our adopted Florida retirement park where the calendar is bulging with inviting events and activities. I have marked my calendar for the pancake breakfast, on January 8, during which The Belles of Harmony and The Chordsmen will be our hosts and will harmonize on a couple of their numbers for us. We will see you there about 8 o’clock when Jack and Rich start flipping those flapjacks. Later that evening, we will boogie at the clubhouse with Night Train. Movie buffs will enjoy another feature film at the rec hall at 7:30 p.m. that same night. We really do fill many spaces with opportunities for fun and fellowship here in our little corner of paradise.
On Sunday, Jan. 9, from 1 to 2 p.m., the computer club will launch their 2011 program at the clubhouse. They always have valuable and interesting techniques and services to offer.
I am looking forward to hearing the Bonita Village Band on Sunday, Jan. 9, at the clubhouse at 7 p.m. Some familiar faces sit among those musicians who play golden oldies and a few contemporary numbers, also. They pass the hat so tickets are not necessary.
Tuesday, Jan. 11 is the monthly meeting of the mobile homeowners association, at the clubhouse at 3:30 p.m. All
residents are invited to attend; this month’s meeting includes the election of a new board of directors member.
Are you brushing up on your hula lesson and putting a Hawaiian costume together for the January 15 dinner dance?
Maybe you will be able to find a little inspiration at the Boutique on Wheels, at the clubhouse, on January 14, at 2 p.m.
Dee Thomas encourages all Italian night enthusiasts to make your reservations for that annual event to be held at the clubhouse on January 16. Good food and great entertainment are promised. Red, white and green are the theme colors.
Although our holiday decorations are tucked into storage bins, there is a prevailing positive aura in Citrus Park thanks to the upbeat nature of our fine neighbors and the inspiration of Christmas past. Remember that we are people who put our helping hands to work.
Happy New Year.
