Nighttime at Freedom Park- the perfect setting for identifying frogs and toads...Photo by Gordon Campbell/Special to the Daily News.
NAPLES — Those who came out to Freedom Park's Frogs 101 presented by the Naples Preserve were treated to both a highly educational power point show by volunteers Becky Speer and Sasha Tetzlaff and lots of before and after dark sights and sounds.
How about frogs, toads, snakes, alligators and wading birds to complete a night out?
That's what was on hand to greet the 65 or so attendees.
Speer and Tetzlaff schooled the crowd on how to recognize the 16 species of frogs and toads that inhabit Collier County. By sound!
After the indoor presentation the group was split in two and were led throughout the park where everyone in attendance tuned their senses to a literal chorus put on by our local amphibians plus the bonus sightings noted above.
Park Manager Cynthia Piper couldn't have been happier with the program and attendance noting it was just great especially for a Summer event.
