— With stiff competition from veteran owners and breeders plus new entrants, the 20th Annual Platinum Coast Cat Fanciers Cat Show was marked by owners and attendees as diverse as the breeds on hand.

Everything from traditional American house cats to exotic breeds resembling wildcats and the felines of Egyptian temples lined the aisles and found their way to the judges.

Cat folks could be seen grooming, applying "cat makeup" and just cuddling their feline friends as they awaited their turn on stage.

Procedurally each cat had to compete within their breed and upon victory there proceed later to the finale where it would be for the best in show overall.

There was plenty to see for everyone from the casual cat owners to the most serious collector or competitor.

The 20th Annual Platinum Coast Cat Fanciers Cat Show continues from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Araba Temple, 2010 Hanson Street in downtown Fort Myers. Tickets are $5 and parking is free. For more information, call 772-5399, 940-6975 or go online to catshows.us/platinumcoast.
