NAPLES — Dubbed a weekend to remember, a near-capacity crowd enjoyed the Thank You Myra Grand Gala concert on Saturday night and 4,235 people were in attendance for Sunday’s Community Day Open House. Collier County and the City of Naples proclaimed Jan. 14 and 15 “Thank You Myra Days” weekend. The Philharmonic Center for the Arts in Naples housed these events celebrating Myra Janco Daniels. Daniels, originally from Gary, Indiana and a former advertising executive, is the founder of the Philharmonic and served as its CEO from the day it opened in 1989 to Sept. 1, 2011. Proceeds from the Grand Gala benefited the Myra Janco Daniels Legacy Fund, which was launched in 2011 and is designed to help sustain the standards of excellence in the performing and visual arts established by Daniels during the past 30 years. The legacy fund has raised nearly $6 million since her retirement. Information: (239) 254-2704 or www.thephil.org.
