ESTERO — More than 600 walkers, donors, sponsors and a $50,000 donation from Billy Fuccillio of Fuccillio Kia, the WINK News Feeds Families Hunger Walk on Saturday, Jan. 21 exceeded its goal of $250,000. There were 123 teams who registered for the walk held at Miromar Outlets. The event raised more than $300,000. This means that a minimum of $1.8 million in food can be distributed through the Harry Chapin Food Bank. Serving as co-chairs of the 2012 event were Sandy Robinson from Northern Trust Bank and Brian Schwartz from 21st Century Oncology. The Harry Chapin Food Bank solicits, collects and stores quality food for distribution to families in need through a network of non-profit agencies in Lee, Collier, Hendry, Charlotte and Glades counties. More than one million pounds of food are distributed monthly. Information: (239) 334-7007 or www.harrychapinfoodbank.org.
