Why is it that you are passionate about working with children and families?

A strong family is the most important ingredient in a child’s life. By fostering a caring, safe family environment in which a child can grow, we help children become productive, caring citizens.

What experience do you bring with you to Youth Haven?

I’ve been fortunate to have opportunities to work in a variety of environments with an array of really talented people across the country. My first job was in my home region of Northeast Ohio, teaching children with special needs. I then taught in public schools in Los Angeles County, California and Fairfax County, Virginia, and along the way also taught in psychiatric hospitals and residential treatment centers. I’ve also held leadership positions in public and private school systems in Ohio, California, Virginia, and Florida. Just two examples: I served as the district-wide director of instructional technology for Fairfax County, Virginia public schools; then, after moving to Collier County, I was principal of Naples High School from 2004 until 2006. Most recently I’ve worked as a consultant in general organizational improvement.

What is it that drew you to the organization?

Youth Haven has a long-standing and admirable commitment to children and families. I feel strongly that there is no greater mission today than protecting children and building strong families.

Is there any area in which you would like to see Youth Haven grow?

The Youth Haven family already has identified the need for, and has a total commitment to providing, a comprehensive and integrated continuum of care for families in need. I strongly support and will focus my efforts on this mission.

Is there anything about yourself personal, or professional, that you would like to share?

Away from the workplace I greatly enjoy golf and my own family, which includes daughters in Ohio and in Sheffield, England, plus our four wonderful grandsons. Professionally, I feel fortunate to have been given the opportunity to strengthen our community through work with the talented and dedicated Youth Haven family.
