— The fifth annual Naples Empty Bowls event, held at Cambier Park on Jan. 28 raised $42,610 for the Harry Chapin Food Bank. This money will translate into nearly $260,000 worth of food that the food bank can distribute through its nonprofit agencies. Students in Collier County created nearly 2,000 bowls for the event. Local artists provided the gorgeous silent auction items and 40 Naples restaurants donated the 38 varieties of soups that were consumed. The event was made possible by the numerous art teachers, students, adults, and restaurants who volunteered their talents and time. The Harry Chapin Food Bank solicits, collects and stores quality food for distribution to families in need through a network of more than 150 local nonprofit agencies in Lee, Collier, Hendry, Charlotte and Glades counties.
