— A Port Charlotte woman died Friday morning in a two-car crash that temporarily closed all southbound lanes of Interstate 75 near mile marker 112 in North Naples.

Percide Augustin, 58, a passenger in one of the cars, died at NCH North Naples Hospital as a result of the crash, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

According to FHP reports, Demon Lorenza Winters, 36, of Cape Coral, was driving a Buick LeSabre sedan about 5:30 a.m. when he fell asleep. His car struck the rear end of a Nissan Sentra driven by Jean Augustin, 73, of Port Charlotte, which had as passengers Percide Augustin and Yves Joseph, 48, also of Port Charlotte.

Winters' vehicle went off the road, crossed the shoulder and a ditch, and came to rest against a barbed wire fence. The second vehicle spun counterclockwise through the southbound lanes and ended up in the median.

Jean Augustin was uninjured. Winters and Joseph, 48, were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Both drivers and the deceased were wearing seat belts.

The interstate was reopened by 8:15 a.m., the FHP reports.
