New restaurant coming soon
Vincenzo Betulia, the former chef at Campiello, is opening Osteria Tulia in November at 466 Fifth Ave. S. (the former site of Ristorante d'Angeli), Naples. Sicily-born Betulia grew up in Milwaukee, began working in restaurants at age 14, went to culinary school at Kendall College in Chicago and was the chef at Campiello since 2000. Bringing on the drama
Whole Foods Market is bringing on the drama by donating 5 percent of Thursday's (Sept. 27) sales to the Gulfshore Playhouse. Blessing of the fleet
The Stone Crab Fleet will be blessed by local pastors at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29 on the bank of the Barron River at the Rod & Gun Lodge, 200 Riverside Drive, Everglades City. The event will begin at noon with live music, raffles, bake sales, a coconut guava cake baking contest and a frog jumping contest for children.
