United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades recently presented an award to the employees Bonita Springs City Hall to thank them for their continued and much increased contributions in 2012. Employees of the City of Bonita Springs increased their donations by 43 percent from the previous year.
United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades exceeded their fundraising goal in 2012, raising more than 8.1 million dollars. In addition to raising funds for human service organizations in the community, the United Way promotes partnerships and collaborations among agencies, helping them to work together focusing on issues and solutions that continue to improve lives.
Among the Bonita Springs charities that benefit is the Café of Life who served over 24,000 hot meals last year to the poor and hungry. The Bonita Springs Assistance Office provided emergency food and financial assistance to 4,631 clients, and the Alvin A. Dublin Alzheimer’s Center served 379 clients.
