Harps take on the '1812 Overture'
The annual concert dubbed Harp Fest by many will return to Naples with more than 20 harps — enough to supply a heavenly host — and some guest stars.
Local child soprano Zofia Majewski will sing, and guest harpist Meko, an international star with his dreamy New Age harp songs, also will perform.
The Kellyn Celtic dancers will bring lively stepping to the stage.
But the Florida harps themselves will provide most of the power for such diverse works as "Blue Tango," the Pachelbel Canon and hits from Beach Boys composer Brian Wilson.
Ever heard harps play the "1812" Overture? They will Sunday, Feb. 10.
What: The Naples Harp Ensemble will present its annual "For the Love of Harps" concert

Edna will return
The Bach Ensemble of Naples "Fantasia V: Love is in the Air!" will be the ensemble's fundraiser, and the music this time will be laughter.
The group will bring in the Florida "Dame Edna," a high-spirited matron who can plumb the most remote corners of Sunshine State humor.
This will be an encore performance for Edna, who entertained for the ensemble's fundraiser last year.

'Voices' winners to sing
Nadia Marshall of Naples and Tiffany Farina of Fort Myers will be guest soloists at the Voices of Naples' 10th anniversary spring concert, "A Celebration of Song," at 3 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Naples United Church of Christ, 5200 Crayton Road, Naples.
The two college students earned scholarships for tuition from the community chorus in 2012 and will return to share their musical growth in their choral music careers.
The 75-member chorus, under the direction of Artistic Director Dr. Douglas Renfroe, will celebrate its 10th anniversary by choosing the group's top 10 favorite songs of the last 10 years.
Choices range from Broadway hits, patriotic classics and a spiritual, topped off by a Gaelic blessing.
Two numbers are classics by liturgical composer John Rutter.
Tickets are $20 and are available from any member, or by calling 239-455-2582.
