The Naples Quilter’s Guild is known around the state, possibly around the country, for the quality and creativity of its artists. That the guild is presenting its 30th annual show this weekend speaks to that.
The show will feature hundreds of professionally judged quilts. Their designs can range from geometric marvels to outright social and political statements . There also will be professional quilt appraisals for those who bring theirs in, along with food, vendors, door prizes and more.
To celebrate its anniversary, the guild also is offering a special exhibition of works by Pat Kumicich, a Naples member whose quilts have traveled the world to be displayed in art and quilt competitions.
Kumicich’s quilts, which are multimedia works of art, have covered everything from familial love to her continued and slightly comic attempts to quit smoking. She will be available to talk about her work from 11 a.m. to 11:30 both days.
At the show’s quilt auction Saturday, a whimsical Kumicich art quilt will be auctioned.
This year’s charity raffle quilt, Pineapple Garden, will be announced at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Proceeds will benefit local women’s and children’s charities.
