Making Strides Against Breast Cancer nears fundraising goal

The Lee County American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer executive committee says its recent breast cancer awareness event raised more than $199,000, only $4,000 from the fundraising goal of $203,000. The funds raised will benefit the America Cancer Society’s efforts in breast cancer research and patient programs.

“We are so grateful for the support we have received from the community to raise the funds we have to make it so close to our goal.” said Debra Newell, event chair.

Nearly 4,000 participants attended the 2012 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event, a non-competitive 5K walk uniting people of all ages with a common goal to fight breast cancer and save lives, which took place at Tanger Outlets on Oct. 20, 2012.
