In a bizarre new twist to a story already more tragic than any country song, singer Mindy McCready, a native of North Fort Myers, is reportedly being investigated in relation to the recent death of her boyfriend, music producer David Wilson, according to media reports.
Wilson died Jan. 13 at the Arkansas home the couple shared. The 34-year-old was the father of McCready’s second son, Zayne, and was helping her raise her son Zander from a previous relationship. In a statement after his death, the singer called Wilson “my soulmate” and “a precious gift from God.” Early reports indicated that Wilson died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but now several published accounts are calling that into question.
