Every year, the Great Dock Canoe Race chooses a theme, and this year, it’s “Saturday Night Live,” fitting because both “SNL” and the GDCR were born in the 1970s. The iconic television show had not yet celebrated its second birthday when the iconic Naples race was born in May 1977. The Great Dock Canoe Race begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Races start and finish at the Dock, 845 12th Ave. S., in Naples.
