NAPLES — These are some of the community events scheduled Wednesday in Southwest Florida to commemorate the 12th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks:
■ Community School of Naples’ Patriot Day ceremonies are from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Morris Activity Center on the school’s campus off Livingston Road, just north of Pine Ridge Road in North Naples. Lt. Col. D. Scott Mann, the keynote speaker, is recently retired from the Army Special Forces Green Beret. He served 23 years in the Armed Forces with combat missions in Iraq, Afghanistan and Central and South America. Attendance is expected to exceed 500, including students.
■ Golden Gate will hold its annual 9/11 Tribute at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Golden Gate Government Center on Golden Gate Parkway. Participating are the Golden Gate Civic Association, Golden Gate Community Center, Golden Gate Middle School, Golden Gate High School, Golden Gate Fire & Rescue, Collier County Sheriff’s Office, Life Christian Church, New Life Church and St. John Neumann High School.
■ A Patriot Day service is at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Liles Hotel Plaza at Riverside Park off of Old U.S. 41, north of Bonita Beach Road. The event is sponsored by the city of Bonita Springs, Bonita Springs Fire Control and Rescue District, the Veterans Advisory Committee and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
■ A remembrance blood drive is from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Waterside Shops. Each successful donor will receive a movie ticket and $20 Pure Naples gift card. Information: (239) 624-4120 or www.givebloodcbc.org.
