Steve Grandmaison, left, has been performing with Raiford Starke for years. 'He's basically my right-hand guy,' says Raiford. 'We help each other and can play off each other, never an uptight thing. We're on the same page with good chemistry.'

Fred Braun, chef at the Island Cafe on North Collier Boulevard,  attended both nights of Raiford Starke's performances at the Martini Bar in August. 'He has such great skill and passion and he knows so many different types of music. He will not stop. He just goes on and on and on.'

Niki Bauer, co-owner of the Little Bar on Goodland, has been a close friend and supporter of Raiford Starke for more than 10 years.  'Raiford and Stevie are not stuck-up, snobby musicians.  They'll go talk to anyone, join in the crowd make it fun and enjoyable.'

Lucky for us, we don’t have to go far to see, hear and appreciate the raw talent of a man called Raiford Starke, a stage name dreamed up mostly as a joke.
