For diners in the city limits of Naples, two-month-old Bambusa is an enclave of excellent food at fair prices. Owner Mel Biondi and partner Steven Soutner have taken over the former lackluster R.J. Mackie's in a strip center at 600 Goodlette-Frank Road N. and hit a bull's-eye.

The setting is nice, consisting of a separate cocktail lounge next to the attractive dining room. Walls are painted the color of Creamsicles with mustard and Williamsburg blue accents plus glass brick and wrought iron touches. Vivid paintings — for sale — add splashes of color. Seating is comfortable and any foliage is the real deal.

Starter possibilities range from 'lobster bobs' to coconut shrimp and clam strips to calamari, spicy chicken wings, onion rings, crab cakes and jalapeno poppers. The salads impress.

Main dishes cover all the bases and are sensibly priced from $9 for a certified black angus burger platter to $20 for two lump meat Maryland crab cakes.
