Upcoming Events for Cote d'Azur

Travelfoodie writes:

We saw an advertisement in the 2007 winter issue of DESTINATION NAPLES of Cote D'Azur. The ad stated
"...you can bring your own wine for a $20 cork fee." Since we prefer to bring our own wine and pay a reasonable corkage fee, we went by there to look over their menu first. The menu posted on the window listed 1.5 lbs. lobster for $37. Reservations were made for the following evening. We were on time and seated promptly. The server saw our wine and fortunately told us the corkage fee was $35. We told him about the ad to no avail, therefore we did not order wine but only our main courses. Later he said the chef-owner told him an ad had not been placed showing the corkage fee in 2 or 3 years, however the restaurant is listed under advertising directory, dining section, page 17. Also, the lobster was listed in our menu as "market price", not $37. The server was courteous, and the food well prepared. Yes,we would dine there again without wine--water tastes fine.

It appears being a good chef does not make him a paragon of the truth!
