The community of Spanish Wells Golf and Country Club marked a milestone this past week and looks forward to continued development.

Spanish Wells, initially platted in 1979, has just more than 1,000 units within its gated community today. Seven neighborhoods combine with the golf club and a future development to comprise the community's nine-member board.

With most of its residences single-family homes, but with a solid block of condominums and other-styled residences, the community offers a variety for its residents.

With a final developmental phase to go, which will also bring residents access to Old 41 Road, the community will ultimately boast more than 1,500 residences.

On Thursday, Spanish Wells hosted a ribbon-cutting for its new clubhouse facility, a large structure near the center of the community. Additionally, it held its annual homeowners meeting this past week.

Spanish Wells offers 27 holes of golf, with practice ranges, a tennis facility and a pool. Its main entrance is on Bonita Beach Road, just east of U.S. 41 and near Bonita Springs' city hall. One community, Marbella at Spanish Wells, has its own entrance on Bonita Beach Road — east of the main Spanish Wells entrance.

From its newly renovated entry to its gatehouse to its grounds, Spanish Wells boasts a well-maintained atmosphere for its residents.

A recent weekday morning left club members basking in a picture-perfect morning, practicing iron shots before heading off to their tee times. It was a postcard view of Southwest Florida living.
